About Country Scents Handcrafted Soaps
We make our soap in the traditional 200 year old cold process method of soap making.
Our recipe is unique to Country Scents and it is formulated to deliver the best
skin care as possible in a soap. We use only safe, natural ingredients without any
harmful preservatives or chemicals. Our fragrance oils are all phthalate free as
well, and our essential oils are of the highest quality we can obtain.
We hand make everything! That includes the soap and our packaging as well. We hand stir and cut each bar, wrap them and send them to you specially. Each bar takes a month to produce since it has to be cured even after it is made but in the end, our soap is gentle and mild. We use fresh goat milk and 50% Olive Oil which produces a creamy, white lather.

Our handmade soap also retains natural glycerin which is formed during the curing process. Commercial soap have the glycerin removed to be resold. The cold pressed oils we use include olive oil, coconut oil, safflower oil, apricot kernel oil, avocado oil, castor oil, shea butter, and quite often, other oils for each unique variety of soap. You'll notice the difference right away when using this soap and will be amazed at how your skin feels. Our soap is not overly scented and will not irritate your nose and we used only high quality skin safe fragrances and many essential oils, including lavender, mints, patchouli, neroli, tangerine, rosemary, marjoram, and more!
Our bars are all cut to be slightly over four ounces so that you can be sure you
are getting the most from your soap. Handmade soap lasts longer than commercial
soap and ours will not develop those cracks that commercial soaps often do due to
the palm oil content in them. We make our soap from start to finish using fresh,
pure ingredients. A Family Tradition of Soap Making
Soapmaking's in our family! Imagine my delight when I found out that my great-great grandmother used to make soap. She made it out of necessity and she also made her own lye to go into it! The soap that she made would not have been fragranced and it may have been harsh due to the unpredictable outcome of homemade lye.
I have imagined that grandma probably would have liked for her soap to smell better and perhaps she used any available herbs or extracts to go into it, maybe keeping a special bar for herself. I am told that she had beautiful skin and I am very sure that soap was her beauty secret! I don't imagine that she had a recipe written down and just like many southern cooks, she had it in her head how much to use of this and that. Amazing!
